Regenerative agriculture conference, 2023

We are delighted to extend our warmest welcome to the Regenerative Agriculture Conference which will be held from 11th – 13th September 2023 at the Ciala Resort, Kisumu, Kenya.

Join us for shared learnings gained from our five-year Transforming Rural Economies and Youth Livelihoods (TREYL) project currently being implemented in Kisumu and Homa Bay Counties. The initiative, now in its final year, is supporting young people to improve their lives through adoption of regenerative agriculture practices.

The conference unites a wide range of participants, including policymakers, project implementers, researchers, and young farmers. This opportunity allows those engaged in agriculture and development to share knowledge and insights regarding the effective implementation and growth of regenerative agriculture programs. Not only this, we also aim to advance policy dialogue, identifying future opportunities for programming and raising public awareness and support for regenerative agriculture.

About Practical Action

Practical Action is an international development organisation putting ingenious ideas to work, so people in poverty can change their world.

One of our four aims is “Farming that Works” where we focus on transforming smallholder food production systems through a holistic and gendered approach. As part of this work, we partner with young people to build resilient livelihoods through regenerative Agribusiness.

For over fifty years, we have worked to create big change by starting small through a radical community-based approach that creates long-lasting change from the ground upwards.

Venue

Kisumu is the 3rd largest city in Kenya and is not only a political city but also one of the premier industrial and commercial centres in Kenya. The name is derived from the Luo word ‘Kisumo’ meaning ‘a place to look for food’.

It is nestled against the shores of Lake Victoria and seems to breathe in rhythm with the gentle waves caressing its edges. It is located in western Kenya, along the eastern shores of Lake Victoria, which is the largest freshwater lake in Africa and the second-largest freshwater lake in the world.
