Energy
Because clean, reliable energy should unlock opportunities for households and businesses, wherever they are.
Reliable, affordable energy shapes how people live, work and adapt to change.
Yet millions remain excluded from modern energy systems. People living in poverty, in remote areas or displacement settings are often left behind because reaching them is difficult or seen as unviable.
Despite progress, the energy gap remains staggering:
- In 2023, 666 million people were still living without electricity.
- In the same year, 2.1 billion people rely on burning polluting material like wood and coal for cooking, exposing them to severe health risks.
Without electricity or clean cooking, households rely on polluting fuels, face serious health risks and struggle to earn stable incomes. Women and girls carry much of this burden.
We focus on extending clean energy access to those least served by existing systems. We support last-mile suppliers, expand access to clean cooking and enable productive uses of energy such as irrigation, milling and cold storage. We work with governments, businesses and humanitarian partners to develop delivery models that function in low-income settings.
By combining deep local knowledge with systems thinking, we remove barriers others overlook. The result is stronger livelihoods, safer homes and communities better equipped to withstand climate and economic shocks.
