Action-driven
Sustainable livelihoods and climate resilience are being built by people living on the frontlines, without the funding they need. Practical Action is working alongside them to change that.
Climate resilience and adaptation to climate change are not distant concepts for the communities we work with. They form the basis for decisions they take every day to build jobs and stop extreme weather becoming a disaster.
Our experience shows how communities on the front line of the climate crisis lead the response by focusing on the things that matter most to them.
They are the people working tirelessly to keep themselves safe during extreme heat and life-threatening floods. They produce harvests that better withstand heavy rains, drought and new pests, and they invest in renewable energy to help maintain their hard-won progress.
This is happening every day, around the world. For example, in the Amazon and Andes we partner with Indigenous Peoples sustainably managing the forests that the world depends on, while helping to build livelihoods that protect them.
These communities are already leading the response to the climate crisis and taking practical action against poverty. What they lack isn’t knowledge or results. It’s funding. While this work proves itself, international investment is pulling back.
It is Practical Action’s responsibility to act as a conduit between those who want to invest in taking action and the communities who need the funding and agency to deliver now.
We showcase what is working by providing trusted partnerships and evidence-based technical support, turning local knowledge into millions of safer, more prosperous lives and livelihoods.
We’re looking for partners ready to back what frontline communities have already made work. Will you join us?
