Climate Risk
Because communities should be able to prepare for climate shocks and protect their livelihoods as the climate changes.
Climate change is reshaping how people earn a living, stay safe and plan for the future.
Rising temperatures, shifting rainfall and more frequent extremes are long-term stresses, not isolated events. They undermine food production, incomes and health, particularly for people already facing poverty and exclusion. Women, children and marginalised groups are often most exposed, with fewer resources and less influence over decisions that shape their resilience.
We treat climate resilience as the ability to anticipate, adapt and recover while continuing to build secure and productive lives. We work with communities, governments and partners to strengthen locally led planning, improve early warning systems and anticipatory action, restore natural systems and develop financial tools that protect livelihoods when losses occur. Climate risk is embedded into decisions about land, infrastructure, services and markets.
Our approach combines long experience, local knowledge and systems change. By linking community action with policy and investment, we help create conditions where people can thrive despite a changing climate.

Partnerships
As a founding member of the alliance, we’re working to bring together risk expertise to help people rebuild their homes and improve their livelihoods.
Partnering with 11 organisations, including Amrita University and the UK Met Office, to improve landslide risk assessment and early warnings.
Working with Asian Development Bank to ensure flood early warning systems are inclusive of the most vulnerable.
Working with experts to enhance understanding of risk and increase the resilience of communities.
