Green and inclusive economies
We support the creation of inclusive, locally rooted enterprises that help people adapt to climate change, unlock economic opportunity, and build resilient livelihoods.
Through our work and partnerships, we build economies that are good for people and the planet. We support communities to create and develop enterprises that are locally rooted, have access to markets and resources, protect nature, and create fair opportunities for everyone.
These businesses help people earn a decent living and improve life for their families while adapting to the increasing effects of climate change.
We focus on two key areas:
- Food Systems: Supporting farmers to grow and sell food in ways that protect nature, are climate resilient, and generate better incomes.
- Clean Energy Access: Bringing clean, affordable energy to homes and communities so people can cook safely, power schools and essential services, and run local businesses.
By making clean energy affordable and food production climate-smart, we help smallholder farmers, entrepreneurs, and workers grow and diversify their incomes while protecting nature. And the benefits spread beyond. More widely, this approach creates stronger local economies that include women, young people, and those often left behind.
