For 40,000 people, this week is the beginning of a six month journey to the start line of the 2020 London Marathon. As they line up in Greenwich on the morning of 26th April, ahead of them will be 26.2 miles around the streets of London; some will be aiming for a personal best, others will be fighting just to finish.
The numbers for the 40th outing of the London Marathon are already staggering; 457,861 entered the ballot (meaning there was less than a one in eleven chance of getting a place) and a total exceeding £60M is expected to be raised for charitable causes in 2020.
If you were one of the lucky ones who took delivery of the fabled “You’re In!” magazine this week, congratulations! You’ll no doubt be thinking about what the next six months will bring. Aches, rain and blisters. Hail, pains and ice-baths. However, it’ll all be worth it when you feel the buzz of race day and you get that indescribably sense of achievement. One way to ensure smiles during even the toughest of winter miles is by fundraising for Practical Action.
As a member of the Practical Action Team we’ll be with you every step of the way with advice, support and reassurance. We have a wealth of experience in supporting runners with their fundraising and training and we’d be delighted to help you towards your goals. There’s no minimum fundraising and you’ll get a Practical Action running vest, as well as a support from a named contact. We’ll even organise an optional training runs and team meet, if there’s demand.
If you are interested in being a change maker with Practical Action so your London Marathon efforts can have a transformational impact on some of the world’s poorest communities, contact us on [email protected]. We’ll get back to you with more information on what support we can offer.
