Practical Action CEO Sarah Roberts looks elsewhere for leadership following continued reduction in UK aid commitment
CEO Sarah Roberts is looking elsewhere for leadership following the announcement the UK Government is keeping UK Aid at 0.5 per cent of GDP, contrary to its manifesto commitment:
“While the UK is urging increased action on climate change at COP27, the impact on the poorest communities who have contributed least to the problem is increasing. This means less support to communities living in countries most vulnerable to, and least prepared for, climate disasters.”
In the absence of government leadership, it becomes even more important for organisations such as Practical Action to forge collaborative partnerships with leaders across business and civil society. This is how we must accelerate the transition to low-carbon world, support the most vulnerable communities to adapt, and influence governments to play their part in addressing this crisis.
