An ambitious climate change adaptation programme in Darfur, Sudan has helped tens of thousands of people improve their lives.

In the heart of Africa, amidst landscapes both arid and fertile, lies Sudan. It is a huge nation, rich with heritage and diversity caught in the complex web of civil war and climate change.

Kenya has suffered widespread flooding in recent weeks, with 267 people killed and 300,000 displaced, according to the Kenyan National Disaster Operations Centre. Although many people are still missing, all Practical Action staff are safe and accounted for.
