Abstract
This document provides a factsheet for the study conducted from February to May 2024, which included data collection, analysis, and result sharing.
The study was focused on Satkhira Municipality in Bangladesh.
The purposes of the study were to assess the vulnerabilities of the municipality’s population, evaluate the availability of essential services, and examine the livelihoods and wellbeing of its residents.
The findings highlighted that the community is facing significant water-logging problem, and an in-depth analysis was carried out to identify the underlying causes of this problem.
The study also aimed to identify potential Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and other actionable recommendations from the local people who are suffering from this acute problem to reduce the water-logging problem with practical recommendations and an actionable plan for implementing these recommendations, tailored to the local context, policies, capacities, resources, and needs.
The study, carried out between February and March 2024, employed a mixed-method approach, incorporating five key methods:
i) literature review,
ii) qualitative data collection and analysis,
iii) transect walk with the community,
iv) analysis of quantitative meteorological data, and
v) creation of GIS and Remote Sensing maps.
This study was funded by Practical Action from internal funds.
