About the role
The Engagement Manager will drive Practical Action India’s business development by identifying, shaping and securing funding and partnerships. The role focuses on building and managing the India pipeline – spanning RFPs, EOIs, donor and CSR opportunities, and proposals – while ensuring high-quality, compliant and timely submissions. It requires strong proposal writing to translate technical programme ideas into compelling, fundable propositions aligned with donor priorities, in close collaboration with programme, technical, finance, MEL, communications and BD teams across India, Asia and globally. The post-holder will ensure alignment with strategic and operational priorities, maintain robust records and tracking systems for opportunities, and contribute to a visible, well-coordinated and institutionally owned pipeline. Success depends on clear writing, disciplined coordination, sound judgement, proactive follow-through and effective cross-team collaboration.
About you
You have proven experience in proposal writing, partnership development or fundraising, along with excellent written communication skills to produce high-quality proposals and concept notes. Experience engaging with donors, CSR partners and development agencies, strong coordination and stakeholder management abilities, and the capacity to translate technical ideas into clear, structured proposals and presentations is key. You are a self-driven professional with strong ownership, initiative and follow-through, sound judgement and maturity, the ability to manage multiple timelines, and a collaborative approach across teams. You hold a solid commitment to gender equality, inclusivity and alignment with Practical Action’s values and organisational priorities.

About us
We are a global community taking practical action against poverty and today’s environmental crises. All of Practical Action’s work is focused on two connected areas for action – livelihoods and climate resilience – and we’re working to deliver three big, global changes:
Big change on food – to sustain people and planet
Big change on energy – clean and accessible for everyone
Big change on climate risk – safer lives, stronger livelihoods
