Abstract
A post-event study conducted by Practical Action in 2025 assessed the impacts of prolonged high temperatures during a 2024 heatwave in Khulna, Bangladesh, to understand how the extreme heat affected communities and disrupted water security, agriculture, health, and other sectors. This evidence report explores how the impacts of the 2024 heatwave in Bangladesh were exacerbated by limited early warning dissemination, inadequate heat preparedness, weak institutional coordination, poor integration of heat risk across sectors, and unequal access to resources. Based on the findings, the recommendations include developing heat action plans for Khulna, strengthening heat early warning systems, and ensuring the priorities of marginalised and at-risk communities are included in decision-making processes.
