COP18 UN Climate Change Conference 2012

Doha, Qatar, 26 November - 7 December 2012

Practical Action attended the COP18 UN climate talks in Doha to promote our #adaptnow campaign. Adaptation is critical because it buys time which the world desperately needs to get a successor agreement to the Kyoto protocol and it saves lives.

Our key asks at Doha were:

  • Adaptation to become centre stage at the UNFCCC
  • 50% of climate finance to be spent on adaption (currently its less than 10%)
  • The UK to honour its part of the commitment to the Green Climate Fund. Developed countries have pledged to raise $100bn annually by 2020 but so far there have only been promises of about $11bn on the table and no money has been paid.

We reported on progress throughout the talks.
