Practical Action is an international non-governmental organization that uses technology to challenge poverty in developing countries. We have offices in the United Kingdom, Africa, Asia and Latin America.  We seek to fill the position of Project Finance Officer in one of our projects - Enhanced Agricultural Productivity and Resilience to Climate change through Solar Powered irrigation, funded by The Swedish Embassy.

The Candidate should possess a minimum of a Higher National Diploma in Accounting or relevant accounting qualification.with a minimum of 2-years experience with development programs.

Helping communities to improve their livelihoods through food security and income generation projects while mainstreaming gender, environment and sustainability initiatives.

Overall finance and logistics support to project staff.


  • Checking of all payment vouchers and advance acquittals to ensure accuracy and donor compliance.
  • Monthly cash and bank reconciliations for the Sub/field account.
  • Management of cash in the field office and ensuring the field offices is well catered for by sending weekly and monthly cash requests to the Head Office (Harare)
  • Ensure all floats/advances are acquitted in time without exceeding a period of 10 working days.
  • Capturing transactions into the excel sheet cashbook on a daily basis.
  • Ensure all paperwork is properly filed in the required order and submitted to the Harare office every month.
  • Ensure time sheets are completed and submitted to HR monthly.
  • Management of fuel disbursements from Total Zimbabwe or other suppliers for all vehicles and ensuring a constant supply for all field activities.
  • Offering logistical support in Gwanda district.
  • Monthly reconciliation of the Total Zimbabwe (or any other similar supplier) fuel account.
  • Ensure compliance with the HR and Finance manuals and any related policies.
