Practical Action, an international technology development organisation head quartered in the United Kingdom and with offices in Asia, Bangladesh, East Africa, Southern Africa, Latin America and Sudan, seeks to fill the position of Project Accountant for the SE4RC project.

Promotion of renewable clean energy technologies and sustainable use among poor rural communities.

Overall partnership management and financial reporting of and on the SE4RC project, provision of technical financial support to the SE4RC project partners identifying and assessing future and current training needs of partners’ systems, review partners documents, keep issues log on unresolved queries, organizing workshops for partner finance team, keep sub-grant files and track expenditures and cash forecasts of partners on a monthly basis - working closely with all Practical Action systems, department staff and the Energy team leader.


  • Must have a minimum of a Higher National Diploma /Advanced Diploma/Degree in Accounting.
  • Part Qualified Accountant or Management Accountant.


  • Experience in using SUN systems and Vison/Q&A.
  • Strong knowledge of fund accounting regulations for non-profit organizations.
  • Good knowledge and experience of all core financial administration activities including accounts payable, cash management, budget development, statutory requirements and standard accounts.


  • Experience in preparing financial and/or management accounts.
  • Experience in conducting partner monitoring and reviews, including but not limited to voucher reviews.
  • Strong numeracy skills and ability to build effective working relationships with finance and non-finance colleagues.
  • Strong knowledge of fund accounting regulations for non-profit organizations.
  • IT literate and excellent knowledge and skills in using computer based multi-dimensional Accounting systems, Microsoft Excel and Word packages.
  • Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills
  • Prior experience as Grant officer/Project Accountant or similar  in an INGO


  •  A minimum of 3 year experience with development programs.
