Our staff in Kathmandu and our district offices are safe and well and continuing to support relief efforts.
However, we are getting reports that rural communities we work with in Gorkha district and elsewhere have been devastated by the earthquake and we will be launching an appeal to help them.
Min Bakram Malla, our energy project manager, has worked with dozens of isolated communities in the region. Today he said: "More than 90 per cent of the houses in the villages I know in Gorkha have been destroyed. There is a similar situation in Rasuwa and Dhading nearby.
"In the last 17 hours around 60 heavy aftershocks have been felt. The situation is terrible. We spent all night in the open to stay safe."
