Nepal Flood 2017

Heavy rainfall started from the midnight of 12 August 2017. The vast area of the southern Terai floodplains was inundated, resulting in severe flooding with huge impacts on lives, livelihood, food security and infrastructure across 26 of Nepal’s 75 districts. Community based Flood Early Warning System (EWS) established by Practical Action together with Nepal Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) in major river basins of Nepal played a vital role in saving thousands of lives.
