This poster, presented at the 2018 Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, gives details about the potential for a flood early warning system that spans the Nepal-India border. The Mahakali River is one of the major tributaries of the Ganga river, and flows across the Nepal-India border. Floods on these rivers affect millions of people, and a transboundary warning system has the potential to save lives, assets and livelihoods. Building on the existing monitoring and warning systems, this poster gives some specific recommendations to create an effective trans-border system.
