Planet friendly farming

Success in Peru’s cloud forests

Vast areas of the precious Amazon rainforests are being destroyed, either for mining or large scale, unsustainable agriculture.

We all live in a delicate balance with nature. Whatever we take and use without replenishing is lost for ever.

Nowhere is this principle more powerful than in the world of farming. And for farmers operating in the most delicate eco-systems, like the cloud forests of Peru, getting the balance right will have an impact on the planet for future generations.

Practical Action is working with farmers like Genaro (left), sharing planet-friendly farming techniques such as layering and soil enrichment. As well as improving his coffee crop, he’s also become a champion of reforesting areas previously cleared and managing the forest sustainably.

Improving farming practices is twice as effective as anything else in reducing poverty.

With your support, we can help more farmers like Genaro to succeed, and protect the planet for future generations.

Let’s create change that’s anything but normal. Where farmers can earn a decent living, while enriching the environment. Where the world works better for everyone.
