Waste

Tackling the issue of waste from different angles is something all children can engage with. Children can consider all of the 6Rs and think about how to implement in their school.

Reduce - cut down the amount of material and energy you use as much as you can
Reuse - use a produce to make something else with all or part of it
Recycle - reprocess a product and make a material or something else
Refuse - don't buy a product if you don't need it or if it is bad for the environment or people
Repair - when a product breaks down or doesn't work properly try to fix it
Rethink - design products in a way that considers people and the environment

Practical Action's activities and support materials at primary and secondary level are highlighted below. For additional ideas go to the Eco-Schools website.
