School Grounds

Your school’s grounds are a fantastic environment in which to let imagination run wild. Could you have a garden for every year group or school subject? Could you install a wind turbine ?

The learning opportunities are endless; pupils can look at the properties of materials, the conditions needed to grow food, the changing of the seasons and develop a wide range of practical skills.

Practical Action's activities and support materials for this topic at primary and secondary level are highlighted below. For additional ideas go to the Eco-Schools website.
