Creative Copywriter

Sorry, this Job has expired

Practical Action is an amazing charity. We work with poor and vulnerable people all over the world, helping them to help themselves out of poverty. Our supporters refer to us as ‘a best kept secret’, but we want to change that. We have big ambitions to significantly grow the organisation and to do this we need to become better known. We have plenty of stories to tell but we need to be better at finding and telling them in a consistent way.

That’s where you come in. We are looking for an amazing copywriter / story teller who can work with our Marketing and Communications teams in the UK and 9 regional offices to improve our brand story telling. You will be part of the brand team, finding and telling stories to our supporters.

Specifically, your role is to produce key organisational publications (on and offline) such as the Annual Report and other supporter communications that reflect our brand, but also finding, choosing and pitching stories to the fundraising team to use in appeals. This will entail a proactive approach including travel to our International offices (Latin America, West Africa, Eastern Africa, Southern Africa, South Asia) where you will interview people at all levels, including project staff and people in the communities we work with, to find stories worth telling.

Ideally you will have a copywriting and/or journalism background with experience of producing branded content. Have the skills to instinctively recognise a great story, relevant to our target audiences. You must be someone who thinks audience first and be able to adapt your writing style for different audiences. You also need to be dynamic, creative and collaborative. To think big picture but also get the small detail right.

Please refer to the full job description below when completing your application.

All applicants must have the pre-existing right to both live and work in the UK.
