About the role

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and ambitious professional to work as Business Development Officer, based at Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The purpose of the role is to play a vital role in supporting the business development in the organization that adds value and impact through strategic inputs. S/he shall support to gather donor intelligence, proposal development and fundraising to strengthen organisational profile. The core of this role is to profile Practical Action in India as the key ‘Go To’ organisation for achieving systemic change that contributes to poverty reduction and empowerment of the poor and marginalised population in thematic areas, contribute in developing, updating and implementation of Practical Action’s Funding Strategy for India including successful delivery of results.

The key working relationships are with the Business Development Manager with strong functional alliance with Programme Coordinator of India. The role will collaborate with the Thematic Leads and the Delivery Team in India, Strategic Partners relevant to Change Ambitions, Relevant Donors and companies/organisations with whom we work and other teams in the Practical Action South Asia Regional Office and Heads of Programmes in other Regional, Country Offices and Practical Action Consulting India.

 

About you

You have a Master Degree in development studies with at least three years’ experience in proposal development and fund raising. You can demonstrate your experience of how you have effectively delivered performance, gather donor intelligence and successful in generation of funds to achieve the organisation strategic goal. You are confident of building relationship with wide range of people, develop network with Donors, CSR and Government Departments to build a strong fund raising portfolio for Practical Action. You are expertized to work in Project Design tools and framework such as problem tree analysis, Logical Framework and numerate with some understand of budgets.  You are confident to represent Country office in various forums and making recommendation for producing high quality proposal and report to Donor.

You are highly organized and a confident problem solver. And whilst you need to be passionate for cause, you also need to be calm head when things do not go right.
