Head of Impact and Learning

The Head of Impact is a new, exciting role reporting to the Director of Influence and Impact.

Having defined and articulated the change we want to make happen in the world in four organization-wide change ambitions, you will be responsible for supporting our efforts on how we bring about change at scale, nationally and globally, and for the measurement of our impact.

You will do this through embedding of Practical Action’s Framework for Change (F4C) and Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) frameworks. Working closely with Heads of Change Ambitions you will guide the development of our evidence base and knowledge products. With your team you will support vital learning processes.

Through our quarterly and annual reporting processes, evaluations and other learning processes you will provide the senior leadership team with an objective assessment of Practical Action’s impact as a group and the progress of our global strategy, with recommendations on ways to maximise our effectiveness.

Leading and managing a team of specialists, you will ensure that Regional and Country offices and UK Business Units are supported in the operational use of Framework for Change, systems thinking, and gender and inclusion so that they are at the heart of programme design and strategic planning.

With colleagues in the Influence and Impact Area, you will support Regional and Country Offices and UK business units to develop their own plans, ensuring they adequately define the impact they will make, and capture the right knowledge and evidence.

Linking with relevant organizational groups such as the Change Hubs and Global Gender Group, you will guide their global learning, knowledge and evidence gathering efforts.

About us

We are an international development organisation putting ingenious ideas to work so people in poverty can change their world.

We help people find solutions to some of the world’s toughest problems. Challenges made worse by catastrophic climate change and persistent gender inequality. We work with communities to develop ingenious, lasting and locally owned solutions for agriculture, water and waste management, climate resilience and clean energy. And we share what works with others, so answers that start small can grow big.

We’re a global change-making group. The group consists of a UK registered charity with community projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America, an independent development publishing company and a technical consulting service. We combine these specialisms to multiply our impact and help shape a world that works better for everyone.
