Practical Action is an international non-governmental organisation (INGO) with 50 years of expertise in Africa, Asia and Latin America. We have a strong heritage and track record of bringing communities and experts together to find practical, sustainable solutions which work for both people and the planet; solutions that enable people to meet their needs and lead dignified lives. Technology features in everything we do. We partner with people whose lives are transformed by these efforts and ensure local ownership and solutions that work in the longer term, without us.

As part of the International Programmes Team based near Rugby, the successful candidate will demonstrate they have:

  • professional experience in international development, with a good portion of that gained in overseas contexts
  • a masters level qualification in a relevant field
  • a strong understanding and experience of gender in development programming, how to analyse and challenge gendered barriers to change and how to practically integrate gender in programme design, learning, advocacy, M&E and communications
  • the ability to develop new approaches and concepts in simple, accessible ways
  • experience of developing and delivering gender training that is context-sensitive, of measuring impact and of working in differing cultural contexts, using the most appropriate methodologies for adoption of change in each context
  • strong verbal and written communication skills and report writing
  • fluency in English (fluent in Spanish, French and/or Arabic would be desirable).
