Mary Allen - West Africa coordinator

Mary has over 25 years of experience living and working in Francophone West Africa with a focus on agriculture, natural resource management, organisational capacity building and the development of more secure and resilient livelihoods in dryland Africa. Her professional experience spans from community level, providing technical advice to local NGOs and farmers’associations to regional level, working as consultant and facilitator for international organisations and consortia. She has an MSc in Soil and Water Engineering and specific skills and experience in participatory methods for research, planning, monitoring and evaluation, project management, workshop facilitation and leading bi-lingual teams (French-English). Since 2011 Mary has developed a particular interest in using appropriate ICT enabled solutions in the context of poor internet connectivity and high rates of illiteracy, to share knowledge with and between farmers and rural entrepreneurs, and to improve their market access.

Minata Coulibaly - Knowledge Manager

Minata Coulibaly has seven years professional experience in communications, project management and marketing. Minata Coulibaly has held various position in national and International NGO’s in Agriculture, Market information System (MIS) and renewable energy from 2009 to date. This has built her capacity in the area of rural development and has been a vital value of her polyvalence. Previously consultant for the Great Green Wall Initiative/GGWI which aims at helping African countries combat climate change effects through sustainable land and water management. She works to support of the implement of the communication plan. Minata has experience in following agriculture market and policy, youth engagement in agriculture, energy policy in West Africa. She has skills in Social Media, Public Relation, Communication marketing, Sustainable Agriculture and leadership. She involves in community development and led YPARD / Young Professionals for Agricultural Development in Burkina Faso. Minata was selected for the 2016 Young African Leaders Initiative, YALI for the Regional Leadership Center of Accra (Ghana). Her leadership training was focus in civil society and social entrepreneurship. She strongly believes in community development. Her academic background is journalism and communication from university of Ouagadougou, and holds a certificate in innovation and rural development from the International Center oriented in Research in Agriculture, based in Wagenigen/Netherlands. She also has a master in Agriculture, innovation and rural development of university of Ouagadougou. Mother of a girl, this dynamic young woman has joined the West Africa team of Practical Action in May as in charge of knowledge management.

Billy Yarro - Energy Consultant

Billy has more than 7 years’ experience working to increase access to sustainable energy solutions and products in off-grid areas in developing countries. He has a considerable understanding of technical cooperation for sustainable development as he has worked for GIZ, World Bank, SNV, EU Energy Initiative Partnership Dialog Facility (EUEI-PDF) as project manager or technical energy expert in West and Central Africa. He has skills on strategic planning management of energy projects, capacity building, markets and socio economic assessment and facilitation of workshops and conference. Fully bilingual (English and French) Billy is holder of a Technological Bachelor degree in Energy and Thermal engineering from the University Technology institute of Douala-Cameroun
