Energy
Practical Action’s energy projects aim to increase poor people’s access to energy technology options, through improving the efficiency and productivity of biomass use, and through small scale, low cost, off-grid electricity supply. Practical Action works closely with communities to help them develop technology options which are appropriate to their needs. Read more about our energy work
Disaster mitigation
The Practical Action approach to disaster management is based on research and operational experience gained over several years in South Asia, Africa and Peru. Poor communities are facilitated to undertake activities which increase their resilience to disasters while strengthening their livelihoods, using local knowledge, capacities and resourcefulness, coupled with innovative and appropriate technologies.

Practical Answers
Practical Answers was created to provide a means of accessing the wealth of technical information held by Practical Action. As well as downloadable videos, Technical Briefs and other technical documents, it also includes a Technical Enquiry Service supplying free technical and developmental information and Resource Centres, based in Practical Action offices around the world.
