For communities at risk from disaster
Practical Action works with people like Manakala in Nepal to help her be better prepared for disasters. There was a time when Manakala and her community lived in constant fear of flooding because they knew that when the floods came, they would have no warning and they would lose everything.
Manakala’s community now have an early warning system, which alerts them to floods, meaning that they have time to escape to safety.
With your support, we work with communities across the world to enable them to prepare for, cope with and adapt to future hazards, rather than focus on relief measures. We do this by building stronger livelihoods, managing disaster risk and increasing food security.
