Many women and children in Africa and Asia is having to walk an average of six kilometres to find and collect water. How about going the extra step to help Practical Action continue to work with poor people across the world by doing your own sponsored Walk for Water?

Whether it's a gentle stroll with a few friends, a hike up a mountain with a larger group, laps around the school field or walking round a local reservoir, whatever you do to raise funds helps us to continue our vital work. And, by organising the Walk for Water yourselves, you have the flexibility to choose the date, time, place and distance.

We have a variety of materials that will help to make organising the walk really easy!

For schools that want to go a step further, please check out our great FREE educational resources Water Water!

Clean water is something most of us take for granted and yet a daily reality for many women and children in Africa and Asia is having to walk an average of six kilometres to find and collect water. Even though the journey to fetch water can be very dangerous, and take many many hours, this walk for water is crucial. We take clean water for granted and can access it freely at the turn of a tap; but for those less fortunate it can be a matter of life and death.

Practical Action helps local communities in the developing world gain access to services such as water and sanitation, vital for a decent quality of life.

Some examples of how we are doing this and the technologies involved are demonstrated in these Videos
