DISASTER RISK REDUCTION

  • Gender and Disaster Risk Reduction Research in Sri Lanka

NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

  • Initiated the process of developing environmental and disaster risk reduction guidelines for micro hydros in Sri Lanka

LIVELIHOOD

  • A training on participatory market system development (PMSD) approach for OXFAM GB staff.
  • Participating at the Southern province small and micro enterprise policy development workshop

RENEWABLE ENERGY

  • Initiating improvements process of 3 pico hydro sites in Kalawana in Ratnepura district.
  • Technology improvement for Pico hydro sites Batuwangala school and Thundola Aramaya (temple).
  • Testing electronic load controller to improve the quality of power supply of Pcio hydro systems
  • Commencing field testing of 10 bio fuel lamps.

  • Compilation of existing infrastructure plans with non state actors in Ampara district.
  • Collection and analysis of infrastructure development plans in Galle and Colombo districts.

ORGANIC FARMING

  • Initiating commercial level home gardening in Periyakapu in Ampara district.

FISHERIES

  • Dodanduwa lagoon mouth rehabilitation plan developed with stakeholders in Galle district.
  • Revising Koggala special area management plan in Galle district.
  • Finalizing the phase out plan for work carried out with Panama lagoon management authority in Ampara district.

Development with disability network

  • Review on ICT infrastructure development in Kumbukkana deaf and blind school in Moneragela district.

INFRASTRUCTURE

  • Continuing construction of the ground water well which are benefitting 90 families in German Harithagama in Galle district.
  • Repairing the water supply system in German Harithagama in Galle district.

SHELTER

  • Initiating preparation for a 3 year project for housing for IDPs in Vauniya implemented in partnership with ASB.
  • Completion of construction of the 3rd brick kiln in Valachchanei in Batticlaoe district

ADVOCACY

  • Continuing work on the South Asia report on climate change for Cop 15 conference.
