Small Is…Festival – an uplifting, engaging and inspiring experience

Come join us in creating a magical place full of possibilities and find out how we can collectively shape the future of our world.

Since 2008 Practical Action, in partnership with Engineers Without Borders (EWB), has hosted a small annual festival to celebrate the ideas of the distinguished philosopher E. F. Schumacher.  The Small Is…Festival enables people to share, learn and be inspired by sustainable living, international development and appropriate technology.

This year’s Small Is… will bring together the curious minds of experts, activists, students and families from around the world. Together, over one summer weekend, we will create, debate and share the evolution of our thinking.

Our theme is Power to the People. It provides a springboard from which to explore some of Practical Action’s upmost concerns – how to tackle energy poverty in the developing world and how we can provide sustainable energy access for all. We will discuss how inequality can be transformed into empowerment and social change.
