Urban poverty is rising at an alarming rate
Every day, children are born into urban poverty, with no access to basic services such as safe clean water, safe toilets, or opportunities to access education to break the cycle of poverty.
We wanted to bring home the reality of slums to people in Britain with these shocking images (left). They demonstrate what places familiar to us would look like if urbanisation had the same impact here as it does in Bangladesh or Nepal.
Practical Action is helping to provide clean water and toilets, give training so that families are self-sufficient and help get children to school so that we can stop this cycle of poverty, via our Safer Cities appeal.
Please help us reach more vulnerable families living in cities in Nepal and Bangladesh.
