New technologies

We help poor communities respond to the challenges of new technologies, helping them to access effective technologies that can change lives forever.

The role of technology in development is perhaps even more important in the new century than it was in the last. In the era of globalisation, new technologies are rapidly shaping the livelihoods of people throughout the world. The pace of technological change is increasing, and is beyond the capacity of society to understand and regulate its impacts - even when the implications are profound and far reaching.

Practical Action no longer has a separate New Technologies programme, but embeds this approach across our programme work.
