History
Practical Action Latin America
Practical Action's first office in a developing country was opened in Peru in 1985. Its main aim was to start a micro hydro project in Cusco. From 1990 onwards the office grew rapidly and now numbers over 300 people.
Practical Action's work in Latin America is based on a rich tradition of experience in the theoretical and practical development of appropriate technology. This type of technology is based on concrete needs and takes into account, and is in harmony with, social, cultural, institutional and environmental characteristics of local populations.
