Global learning in science: England
The new National Curriculum for Science: England 2016 offers great opportunities for global learning...teaching about global issues using participatory methodologies such as discussion and debate coupled with an enquiry based approach.
The importance of teaching in context and helping pupils understand the uses and implications of science in the world around them is explicit in the aims. In addition, there is a new emphasis on the use of secondary sources.
This document identifies areas within the KS2 and KS3 curriculum where global context can be used as the starting point or focus of a lesson. It gives examples of resources available from Practical Action, including teaching materials and links to secondary sources from our main website such as technical briefs and videos.
