Are pumpkins just for Halloween? Not in Bangladesh where they provide a valuable income all year round.
For thousands of Bangladeshi families whose crops are regularly destroyed by floods Practical Action's award winning work, like growing pumpkins on barren sandbars, means they are now able to feed their families and earn enough money to sustain them through the year. Learn more about these innovative technologies.
We have a dedicated band of volunteer speakers who are keen to get the message about Practical Action's work out to a wider audience.
If you know a church, development or community group who would be interested in hearing from them click here to find out more.
Theresa Kwenda was one of millions of poor Zimbabweans threatened by deadly cholera outbreak.
Working together, Practical Action and UNICEF have installed cheap sustainable Ecosan toilets massively reducing the risk of cholera for her and her community.
Watch this video to see how Theresa's life has changed since these toilets were built in her community of Epworth.
Practical Action's active Education Unit has developed a new series of resources for teachers and pupils on sustainability issues to prepare for the changes in the new Design & Technology curriculum. From September 2009 these changes place more emphasis on a "more sustainable future".
To help teachers prepare for this we have been running Teacher Training sessions around the country - learn more about our Education work.
with best wishes,

Margaret Gardner
