Dangers of Darfur

Practical Action's vital work in Darfur continues, even though 13 other international charities have been forced to withdraw. We employ only local staff, who are delivering remarkable work to reduce poverty in one of the planet's most inhospitable, arid and dangerous environments.

Mohammed Siddiq from our Darfur office talks about our work

Life-changing water pump

A simple treadle pump means that Phool Kumari, who lives in Nepal, can feed her children and send them to school. This small and easy to operate piece of technology has made a huge difference. Watch Phool's story unfold in a new video on our website.

Practical answers to climate injustice

The world's poorest people are the most vulnerable to climate change; change they had no part in creating. This powerful book, available from our bookshop, draws on Practical Action's experience around the world.

It showcases eight studies about how communities adapt. In the spirit of 'Small is Beautiful', the best solutions are often local, small scale and based around the community. Or find out more about our work with communities adapting to climate change.
