Preparing for the floods

Poor people are often the most vulnerable to natural disasters, such as flooding, cyclones and river erosion. In Bangladesh, Practical Action works with communities to reduce the impact of such disasters.

 

Coping with river erosion 

This Practical Action project aims to address the development needs of the communities, who have been displaced by river erosion and those who are living under the threat of being eroded in the near future.

Gaibandha flood erosion project

This five-year Practical Action project aims to address the development needs of the communities, who have been displaced by river erosion and those who are living under the threat of being eroded in the near future.

Flood proof  housing

After years of living on a river embankment, Mansur Ali and his family now have a new flood-proof home, which they built in partnership with Practical Action. For the very first time, they can look forward to a flood-free future.
