Powerful solutions to poverty
Life without energy condemns people to a life of poverty. Around the world 1.6 billion people live without electricity.
Energy facts:
2.5 billion people have no regular access to decent fuels for cooking
1.6 billion people have no access to electricity
85% of Africans have no electricity.
60% of energy is consumed by 20% of the world's population
Practical Action supplies practical energy. We are helping people create renewable, sustainable, locally-sourced power in their communities.
Some of the methods we use include: more efficient cooking stoves; off-grid electricity; bio-gas plants and smoke hoods to reduce indoor pollution.
