He received his award at their Excellence Awards evening on 6 March at the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Savoy Place, London.

Ian Capewell receives his award His nomination for the award reads:

Ian was an architect and main implementer of the Sustainable Design Award. An external evaluation of the Award for the European Commission showed that not only has the SDA had a massive effect on teaching and learning it has also changed thinking in QCA, Ofsted and the exam boards. As a result of Ian's work in producing printed resources (like the Sustainability Handbook) and websites, and in developing and running courses for Continuing Professional Development and Initial Teacher Education, sustainability is now firmly on the D&T agenda.

Ian is the second member of the Practical Action education team to be honoured. Former education unit manager, Bren Hellier, received an award for Outstanding Contribution to D&T Education in 2003. More »
