Practical Action to teach British children about sustainability
By the end of June we will have distributed 275,000 USB memory sticks to all Head Teachers, Teachers and support staff in the UK.
The initiative is entitled Memory4Teachers and aims to give teachers easily accessible resources to enable them to teach sustainability.
On each stick there are: Practical Action's ten most popular educational resources; a presentation about Practical Action; tips on fundraising for schools; details of our Practical Presents campaign; and a diary section featuring important calendar dates.
The stick is designed to give teachers practical resources which are engaging, fun and educational. For example, there is a wind power challenge where science and technology students have to create a simple wind turbine which can lift a cup off the floor. And there is a water carrying game which highlights the difficulties people in developing countries face with access to clean water.
The Memory4Teachers website is at www.memory4teachers.co.uk and funding has been provided by Comic Relief, Sport England, npower and The University of Cambridge.
