Practical Action provides fishing craft and gear to fishers from war-affected Kilinochchi district in Sri Lanka

Practical Action distributed fishing craft and fishing gear among war affected fisher families from Kilinochchi district from the Northern Province.

Ten vallams were handed over at a ceremony held on 25th January 2011 at the Karaichai North Co-op Society Federation office premises, Paranthan with the participation of Hon. Murugesu Chandrakumar , M.P., (Deputy Chairman of Committees and chairman of the Divisional Development Committees of Kilinochchi district.) and The Government Agent - Kilinochchi, Brigade Commanders of 66, 57, 573, 662 brigades, and the AGA - Kandavalai.

Twenty sets of nets were distributed to the fisheries families of Umaiyalpuram and Paranthan at the same ceremony.
