Sustainable Starter activities

The following activities aim to introduce aspects of sustainability into your D&T lessons. The activities range from looking at sustainability definitions through to hands-on product based starter activities.

Product pairs: helping students to think through their own values as consumers.

Belief Circles: helps students to think of their own values and those of their peers in relation to design and technology activity.

Line Ups: a group or whole class activity to enable students to position themselves along a sustainability line up.

Winners and Losers: a product evaluation activity to enable students to look at environmental and social impacts.

Let's negotiate: A small team activity to help students develop specification criteria for their own designing and making activity.

Sustainability wordsearch: Suitable for key stages 2 and 3.

We aim to add new activities here regularly!

The activities below are slightly longer introductory activities that have accompanying powerpoints and linked starter activities.
