Based at the regional office of Practical Action in Colombo, we offer high-quality consultancy services to NGOS, development agencies, government departments, research institutions, community groups and the private sector throughout the South Asian region. Practical Action Consulting draws its expertise from Practical Action's professional staff world wide and from a pool of independent associate consultants.
Energy: studies and consultancy services for energy policy development, technology assessment and feasibility studies on renewable energy options, rural energy, knowledge dissemination and capacity building
Transport: developing and testing affordable, sustainable and effective transport solutions for village communities. Consultancy services for the management of roads and transport options.
Post-tsunami disaster mitigation: developing policy options that address the vulnerability of disadvantaged people through research and pilot interventions, and encouraging governments, donors and NGOs to adopt such options.
Agro-processing and food production: our work aims to strengthen the bargaining and earning capacities of small scale agricultural producers by developing community-friendly agro-processing technologies and sharing them widely.
