Practical Action Consulting: Southern Asia
Practical Action Consulting South Asia (PAC SA), opened at the regional office of Practical Action in Colombo during 2006. PAC SA offers high-quality consultancy services to NGOs, development agencies, government ministries, research institutions, social foundations, community groups and the private sector not only in Sri Lanka, but throughout the South Asia region.
Practical Action Consulting draws its expertise from Practical Action's professional staff worldwide and from a pool of external experts, who work in different fields. PAC SA has increased the outreach of Practical Action through its efforts to seek consultancy opportunities nationally and across south and south east Asia. PAC successfully implements projects in a range of varied sectors such as energy, disaster risk reduction, livelihoods, agriculture and communications.

Namiz Musafer is an electrical engineer, with over 20 years of experience working in private sector as well as non-governmental organizations.
Namiz has been working as a Project Manager – Access & Services (Infrastructure Systems) in Practical Action South Asia since 1998 and his professional experience includes conceptualisation, planning, financing, implementing, monitoring, evaluation and documenting of development projects, especially related to energy sector. He has been engaging in several energy-related projects including Small Wind Electric Generation, Biogas, Liquid Biofuels, Micro Hydro, Hybrid system, and Biomass.
He has imparted his experience on the energy sector by: leading the setting up of National Biogas Standards in Sri Lanka; conducting training on biogas technology (renewable energy technologies as whole) and national policies and applications; supervising Municipal Solid Waste based biogas systems; participating online interviews on radio (including BBC) on biogas related topics; and organising workshops, seminars, training programmes, field visits for the policy makers, policy implementers, service providers, university and school students and general public.
