Community Based Adaptation to Climate Change - CBA4 - Tanzania, 2010

Fourth International Conference on

Community Based Adaptation (CBA) to Climate Change

Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, 21-27 February 2010

Community-based adaptation (CBA) recognizes that communities already possess much of the knowledge and skills required to cope with the expected impacts of climate change. Communities can often increase their resilience to climate stresses by building on their own knowledge and skills. This is important in Africa, which is particularly vulnerable to climate change.

The conference aims to share the latest developments in adaptation planning and practices, priority sectors and measures at different levels and disseminate knowledge among stakeholders and actors. It comprises two days of field visits to community based adaptation projects in different ecosystems, followed by three days of interactive discussions on different thematic areas.

Practical Action has five delegates at the conference: Mohamed Siddig from Sudan, Eric Kisiangani from Kenya, Douglas Gumbo from Zimbabwe, Bhattiya Kekulandala from Sri Lanka and Rachel Berger from the UK.
