The Wave

Join the WaveSaturday 5 December 2009

Ahead of the crucial UN climate summit in Copenhagen, more than 50,000 people from all walks of life flowed through the streets of London to demonstrate their support for a safe climate future for all.

Together we tried to inspire our Government to protect the world’s poorest and most vulnerable communities, quit dirty coal, and build a green economy.

Stop Climate Chaos‘The Wave’ was organised by the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition. 11 million strong, we are the committed supporters, campaigners, hearts, minds and voices of over 100 organisations. Join ‘The Wave’ - the UK’s biggest ever demonstration in support of action on climate change.

Key messages

There are three areas we want the UK Government to focus on:

  • Protect the Poorest: Provide resources to help the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people adapt to climate change.
  • Act Fair & Fast: Deliver a fair global deal in Copenhagen that keeps global warming under two degrees C.
  • Quit Dirty Coal: End our reliance on dirty coal power, and instead boost the UK’s renewable energy supply to help build a green economy and create new jobs.
