Take Action

Take Action

Without action now, we are facing an average temperature rise of 4c by the end of the century. In some areas, such as the polar caps, temperatures could rise by as much as 16c. That means one thing for families in the developing world: disaster.

It’s a massive injustice that, despite being least responsible for CO2 emissions, poor communities are first to face their impact.

Whilst Practical Action is already working with these families and communities to enable them to adapt to the changing  climate, we need your help to change the society we live in.

By working together, we can tackle poverty by campaigning for change.

Skill Up...

Practical Action is running a series of advocate training workshops during April and May 2012 to:

  • enable people around the UK to become advocates for the issue of climate change and development.
  • equip people with the sorts of skills that are often in short supply in campaign groups, thus strengthening the movement more widely.
  • bring groups working on climate change and/or development together through a partnering process for the delivery of the training and the ongoing support of the advocates.

To find out more have a look at our advocate training page.

Join Up...

Your next stop to campaigns success is to bring together your friends and networks because let's face it, everything is more fun with friends (plus they will support you, increase your capacity and spread your campaign even further!).

You can also join our supporters on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+

Don't forget to tell your friends, family and colleagues to take part too!

Arrange a meeting with your MP to talk climate change and international development.

It just takes four simple steps to meet your local MP:

  1. If you don't know who your MP is, you can find their contact details by entering your post code here
  2. Email to arrange a meeting
  3. During the meeting explain why tackling climate change is essential to reduce poverty, and ask them to put pressure on the UK government to push for urgent and ambitious action on climate change
  4. Afterwards, don't forget to send your MP a thank-you note reminding them what they agreed to do. And please let us know how you got on - we can continue to put pressure on your MP too.

Never contacted your MP before? Don't quite know what to expect from a meeting? Click here to find out more.
