Biomass energy from mesquite shrubs

There is a severe shortage of wood and charcoal in Sudan, where large areas of trees and shrubs have been cleared.   In the irrigated area of the Gash delta in Kassala, efforts are being made to eradicate a fast-growing invasive shrub called mesquite.

This project will help communities to manufacture charcoal out of mesquite wood, for domestic use and for income generation.
