Practical Action Sudan

Our work focuses on three main regions - eastern Sudan, western Sudan and Blue Nile.

• The eastern Sudan integrated technology programme activities take place in the states of Kassala and Gedarif.
• On the fringes of the Sahara desert in western Sudan, the work in North Darfur State – divided into the four provinces of Elfashir, Kabkabiya, Kutum and Umkaddada – concentrates heavily on improving the food security of inhabitants.
• Our office in Blue Nile State opened in 2007, and concentrates on the re-building of livelihoods of war-affected people in the region.

Practical Action Sudan operates out of three field offices, El Fashir in North Darfur and Kassala in Eastern Sudan in addition to the Khartoum Head Office. The improving Hibiscus Production and Marketing Project which is being managed out of the premises of Eid El Neil organization our local partner in Um Rwaba of North Kordufan. We employ in total over 75 programme and support staff, most of them are technical staff and managing an annual budget of about £1,8m coming from institutional donors and charities such as the European Commission, Comic Relief, Kids for Kids and Band Aid.

We reached other parts of the country by providing technical assistance to a number of NGOs, UN agencies and government ministries.
